POV: you're endlessly scrolling through Instagram to show love on your best friend's latest selfie, but you have to sift through tons of posts to find her face on your feed. It can be frustrating to scroll past targeted ads or posts you don't normally seek out, especially if it takes a few minutes to see the content you actually want to follow. Well, Instagram may have a possible solution for this issue.

After Instagram debuted its inclusive pronouns feature earlier this year, the app is testing out another update. While it's not officially available to the public just yet, the new favorites feature is currently being tested with several users to bring back the content they want to see. If you're wondering what to expect from the new update, look no further. Ahead, find everything we know about Instagram's favorites feature so far.

What does the favorites feature do?

According to mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi, the new feature prioritizes posts from your "favorite" creators on your feed.

How are favorites different from close friends?

You may be thinking that Instagram's favorites feature is super similar to the already-existing close friends list. So, what's the difference?

While both features keep your list private, close friends is exclusive to those who can access your private Instagram stories. Meanwhile, your favorites are accounts you want to see at the top of your feed. So, if you love following Gigi Hadid for her model-off-duty fashion sense or want to stay up to date on Olivia Rodrigo's latest music drop, they'd both be on your favorites list. You can also add your friends and family to your favorites list if you want to see what they're up to.

When will it be available to the public?

Instagram told Gizmodo that the feature is an internal prototype that's still in development, so it's not available to everyone just yet. The same thing happened with Instagram's pronouns feature before it was successfully incorporated into every user's account.

Although tons of Instagram users have expressed that they want feeds to be in chronological order again, this seems like the closest thing to it.
