Cartoonist for The New Yorker
Age: 25
Hometown: Marlton, New Jersey

Believe it or not, Black creatives continue to break new ground, even in the 21st century. Take Liz Montague, for example. She’s a wildly talented cartoonist and illustrator, and in 2019, she became the first Black woman to have her illustrations featured in The New Yorker. While Liz has the range and can draw just about anything, her work “focuses on the intersection of self and social awareness,” according to her website. In addition to having her work appear in The New Yorker, Liz has also worked with Google, Food Network and the U.S. Open.
