There can be too much TV to watch sometimes! If you're trying to catch up on new shows you missed, rewatch some of your old favorites, and are binging a reality TV show too, that's a lot of TV time when we have to do other stuff too. When so many great series are coming out on networks and streaming services, it's easy to completely miss that one of your favorite new shows is even coming back. Here's a useful list to cut through the noise and let you know what awesome TV series are back now or returning soon.
Our Flag Means Death (Season 2)
Our Flag Means Death is a smash-hit sitcom that came out of nowhere in 2022. It depicts a delightful fictionalized romance set during the Golden Age of Piracy and stars real figures from the historical period Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and Blackbeard (Taika Waititi). Every single character here is hilariously written and exquisitely portrayed, from the crew of Stede's ship the Revenge to other figures they clash with through their misadventures. Season 2 just began airing on HBO Max on October 5, 2023.

Fargo (Season 5)
Based on the incredible Coen Brothers film of the same name, Fargo on FX has taken its world and expanded it to great effect in this anthology crime drama series that exquisitely preserves the movie's sense of dark humor. Season 5 is coming soon on November 21, 2023, and has a stellar cast lined up including Juno Temple, Joe Keery, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Jon Hamm.

Foundation (Season 2)
This Isaac Asimov adaptation has some of the greatest imagery of any show airing right now, and some compelling performances from its cast, especially Lee Pace and Jared Harris. Season 2 aired in July of 2023, and is now available to watch all-through as of September. Don't worry, it's been renewed for a third season, so more mind-bending sci-fi goodness is on its way.

Slow Horses (Season 3)
Slow Horses has been building up steam on Apple TV+ since it premiered in 2022, with an excellent lead performance by Gary Oldman as the sharp-minded but slovenly Jackson Lamb, the head of Slough House, a sort of purgatory for rejected MI5 secret service agents who haven't been fully fired yet. If you haven't seen this yet, you've got time to catch up on this show before season 3 comes out on December 1, 2023.

House of the Dragon (Season 2)
Unfortunately, we won't be getting the second season of HOTD in 2023, as they've been filming this year. Last we heard, HBO has been aiming for a Summer 2024 release date, but that's not set in stone. With how well the show kicked off, we'll definitely be excited to watch this whenever it comes out. Take your time!

The Wheel of Time (Season 2)
If you need more fantasy TV right now, The Wheel of Time just aired its second season on Amazon Prime Video. This Rosamund Pike-fronted high fantasy epic is adapted from the Robert Jordan series of novels. Some critics were mixed on its first season, but it found a great rhythm in season 2.

The Simpsons (Season 35)
Yep, thirty-five seasons of The Simpsons and counting are out for you to enjoy. You can say it's past its prime, but these characters are still delightful and you'll be laughing at the new episodes all the same. Season 35 just started airing on Fox in October, but you can catch up on all the past season on Disney+.

Lupin (Part 3)
You've got to check out this French reimagining of the classic master thief character starring Omar Sy as a gentleman thief seeking to avenge his father, who died in prison after being framed for the theft of a diamond necklace. All seven episodes of Part 3 became available on Netflix on October 5, 2023. Give it a watch if you need a refreshing thrill ride.

Heartstopper (Season 2)
Another great series that already has a second season ready for you, this excellent coming-of-age queer romance is based on the graphic novel series and webcomic by Alice Oseman, with Oseman penning this Netflix adaptation as well. Season 3 just started filming in October of 2023.

1923 (Season 2)
Yellowstone fans and critics alike responded very well to this prequel series starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford as members of the Dutton family in, well, 1923, in the early stages of the Great Depression. Paramount+ renewed the series for a second season in February of 2023 shortly after season 1 finished airing, but production has been delayed this year due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Dark Winds (Season 2)
If you're looking for a blisteringly-good new crime thriller with western vibes, Dark Winds on AMC and AMC+ is an excellent option which just aired its second season in July, 2023. It's been renewed for season 3 as of September, so catch up and see how incredible Zahn McClarnon is as tribal police officer Joe Leaphorn.

Only Murders in the Building (Season 3)
Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin have been making comedy magic for three years running in this silly whodunit series starring the trio as strangers who bond over a love of true-crime and begin investigating murders in the apartment building they all live in. Season 3 just aired its finale on October 3, 2023 and we already know a fourth season is coming on Hulu.

Outer Range (Season 2)
Westerns are dominating right now, and this sci-fi western starring Josh Brolin and Imogen Poots was lauded for a compelling mystery and boundary pushing creativity. Filming for season 2 began in April of 2023, with no word yet on when we can expect new episodes of this Prime Video hit.

Rick and Morty just began releasing season 7 episodes, with the premiere hitting in October, and it's still as chaotic and absurd as ever. Even if it results in your friends doing excessively annoying impressions of the main characters, it's still a funny show.

Loki (Season 2)
There's a lot of Marvel out right now, it's hard to keep on top of all of it. That said, Tom Hiddleston really shines in this series based on his iconic God of Mischief character Loki who embarks on a new journey in an alternate timeline following Avengers: Endgame. Season 2 is airing now after an October premiere, with the last of its nine episodes coming on November 9, 2023.
