From Cosmopolitan

As of Monday night, Rachel Brosnahan is an Emmy winning actress (!!!), so let's take a second to get to know her just a bit better. I'm going to go ahead and assume you're already familiar with Rachel's mega-hit Amazon show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (if you aren't, head this way), so here's what you need to know about the woman behind everyone's favorite Upper West Sider.

You Probably Remember Her from House of Cards

Rachel was prominently featured in the first few seasons of House of Cards-before her character tragically died (oh, er, ancient spoiler alert). "It's been the most wonderful job I've ever had and may ever have again," she said back in 2015, presumably before she read a script for Mrs. Maisel. "And I will dearly miss this group of people who I've had the opportunity to work with over the last couple years."

She's Not from a Hollywood Family

Rachel grew up in Illinois to a British mom and to a dad who worked in the publishing industry. She was 100 percent a musical theater nerd in school, but fun fact: she was also on the wrestling team in high school. But guess acting was in her ~bones~ because she graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts in 2012, and was cast in House of Cards right outta school.

Late designer Kate Spade was Rachel's aunt, who she often spoke fondly of: "People around me have said that I’ve inherited little pieces of Katie’s style," Rachel told WWD. "For example, I love a good shoe and a good bag, and I know that she was largely influenced by my grandmother, her mother, June."

Aka Jason Ralph, who, by the way, was most definitely her date to the 2018 Emmy Awards. The pair reportedly met while working on the show Manhattan, and get this: they wear wedding bands on their fingers. So it's possible they're secretly married? Or they just like rings!
