The 2023 Comedy Prize is taking place Saturday, October 21 at the Remington Garage in downtown Shreveport. Get to know a little more about the seven comedians who will be vying for the $2,500 grand prize.
Come out to the Remington Garage on Saturday night to laugh through seven standup comedians' sets as they try to win over the panel of judges with their jokes.
Meredith Casey
Meredith Casey is a standup comedian, writer and actor from New Jersey and is based in Los Angeles, CA. Casey just taped a Comedy Central Featuring set that will come out in September.
Casey is an award-winning writer, her work has taken first place in the Slamdance TV Pilot Script Competition and in the Austin Revolution Film Festival. Her writing has been recently showcased in the Yes and Laughter Lab pitch-lab. You can see Casey on screen in the critically acclaimed and award-winning feature films The Beta Test and Greener Grass.
Chris Grace
Chris Grace is an actor and comedian best known for playing Jerry in the NBC sitcom Superstore and Christian Grey in the off-Broadway musical parody 50 Shades! The Musical.
Grace is a member of Baby Wants Candy (BWC), a Chicago-based comedy ensemble which has performed in the U.S. and abroad. Grace is also a regular performer in Magic to Do: Musical Improv held at UCB Sunset.
Bo Johnson
Bo Johnson is a comedian from Seattle, Washington. He can be found headlining clubs, breweries and dingy bars across the U.S. and sometimes Canada.
Johnson's standup was featured on season two of Kevin Hart Presents: Hart of the City on Comedy Central. The following summer, Bo taped a set for LOL Live! at the prestigious Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal.
BT Kingsly
BT Kingsly is making his mark on both big and small screens and on comedy stages from Hollywood to NYC, Europe, the Middle East and the Far Est.
In 2017, after numerous television appearances including Kevin Hart's Hart of the City the previous year, Kingsley was awarded his first TV standup special Next Level. Both were on Comedy Central and produced by Hart. Other TV standup credits include Off the Chain on Bounce TV and Laff Mobb's Laff Tracks on TruTV.
Orion Levine
Orion Levine is a standup comedian from the Bay Area, currently based out of Los Angeles in a room with unfortunate carpeting.
Levine has appeared on the Late Late Show with James Corden, named a New Face at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in 2022, appeared at New York Comedy Festival, was featured on Netflix Radio, won So Cal's Funniest Comic in 2023 and was a finalist at the San Francisco International Comedy Competition in 2021. Now, Levine performs all over the country.
Wellington Ojukwu
Straight out of Arkansas, comedian Wellington Ojukwu comes to make you laugh even if he has to tickle you himself.
Ojukwu made his television debut on Fox Station's Laughs TV Show and has also been on Standup Nashville live from Zanies on the Circle Network. Ojukwu was a performer in the 2019 and 2022 Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, Big Pine Comedy Festival 2021 and St. Louis 2019 Fly Over Comedy Festival.
Sahana Srinivasan
Sahana Srinivasan is an actress, comedian and filmmaker from Texas. She hosted the Netflix original science show Brainchild for which she was featured in Forbes, NowThis, Variety, NPR, Teen Vogue, The Rachael Ray Show and more.
Srinivasan has also hosted for comedians Emo Phillips and Ego Nwodim, and she was a finalist in the Funniest Person in Austin contest. Srinivasan is known for her absurd characters and silly one liners about her cultural identity and life experiences.
Tickets for Comedy Prize are currently on sale for $30, but the price will go up after Sept. 15. You can snag VIP tickets for $75 that includes table seating and two drinks of your choice.
