KJ Apa Third-Wheels Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart at the Teen Choice Awards

Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart are a dynamic duo both onscreen, as detectives-in-training Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper on Riverdale, and off, as a reported IRL couple. And just like Archie and Veronica sometimes third-wheel Bughead, we can imagine there are plenty of opportunities for the Riverdale cast to feel like the odd men and women out where Cole and Lili are concerned. Recently, however, KJ Apa made the most of the situation by taking some time to troll the alleged couple.

While attending the 2018 Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles, KJ snuck into a pretty cute photo of Cole and Lili sitting side-by-side, shot by Kevin Mazur. In the pic, KJ disrupted an otherwise incredibly picturesque shot of his two fellow actors by lurking in the background, right in between their faces. He also flashed a very demented, Jack Skellington-esque grimace-slash-fake smile. It definitely adds an extra dimension of humor to the funny shot.

KJ then shared the image on Instagram, writing, "No one is safe." Fans of the photo caught onto his third-wheeling shenanigans, with one writing, "I ship it lol , third wheel," and another one expressing all of our fears by saying, "I’m having nightmares tonight."

Meanwhile, the Riverdale cast had a big night at the award show, taking home nearly 10 awards, including Choice Drama TV Actress (for Lili) and Choice Drama TV Actor (for Cole). The two also won Choice TV Ship and Choice Liplock, in addition to the show's larger win for Choice Drama TV Show.

Overall, it wasn't a bad evening for the cast of the CW show, photobombs and third-wheels included.
