Riverdale star KJ Apa got his big break playing Archie in the dark live-adaptation of the famous comic book series. However, he did try to become another famous comic book character, but was ultimately was not cast.

KJ Apa just revealed that he actually auditioned to be Marvel's next Spider-Man and his career would've been TOTALLY different if he got the role. Spider-Man: Homecoming, which was released the same year that Riverdale first premiered, introduced to a brand new Peter Parker under the suit as the series was rebooted to fit within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Unfortunately for KJ, he didn't end up getting the role, but it was also the outcome he says he expected.

"I auditioned for Spider-Man. I didn’t get it. You know, sometimes I walk out of an audition — you know when you walk out and you feel really good about it, feel like they loved it or whatever? I didn’t feel like that," he told MTV News.

Obviously, KJ ended up not getting the role, but now he's known as the iconic Archie Andrews in one of The CW's biggest shows of all time.

Camila Mendes also revealed that she auditioned for a superhero film, but did not reveal which one specifically she went for. Madelaine also said that she auditioned as well, but noted that she might have signed an NDA and wasn't able to talk about it.

Fans hoping to see them suit up might actually get their wish as series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that some of the characters will likely dress up as some big DC superheroes, but didn't reveal which ones. It might not be Spider-Man, but Archie would make a GREAT Green Arrow.
