Kirstie Allsopp has shared a simple wardrobe trick to help prevent dust and marks from ruining hanging clothes — and her Twitter followers are loving it.

In a Tweet, Location, Location, Location presenter Kirstie asked her followers: "Quick Question - Does anyone hang clothes in their wardrobe inside out to prevent dust/marks? Is this a thing?"

Much to Kirstie's surprise, many people were quick to respond explaining that it was something they have been doing for years. One said: "I do - definitely helps to keep garments clean," while another commented: "Yes, I do that, and also hang then on the line inside out to prevent marks from the line, pegs or bee pollen dots showing on the outside. Not sure if its a thing, but seems like common sense to me."

Some followers said that they wash and dry their clothes inside out but don't necessarily hang it in the wardrobe this way, while others said they hadn't heard of it but considered it to be a "great idea" that they'd be willing to try.

Some even began sharing helpful tips of their own. "Really good (expensive) and not often worn clothes have an old shirt hung over them to keep them dust free," revealed one Twitter user.

Kirsty later explained that she actually asked the question as it's something her Love it or List contributor does, but admitted that she's perhaps not too keen on it herself, saying it would keep her awake at night if her clothes were hanging inside out.
