Kingpins Amsterdam Street Style: Denim Reigns Supreme

Authentic fades, double denim and major outerwear moments were street style highlights at Kingpins Amsterdam, April 12-13.

Though the tulips were in full bloom, rainy, windy weather called for heavy-duty coats. Attendees stepped out in classic tan trench coats as well as colorful versions. Puffer coats added a jolt of color and print. Others kept their look cool and simple with bomber and leather motorcycle jackets.

Long denim coats—from simple car coat silhouettes to shearling-lined duffels—were functional and instrumental in completing the show’s unofficial uniform: double denim. While blue jeans and denim jackets were a mainstay, attendees put their own spin on the Canadian tuxedos with patchwork, rip and repair, paint and more.

Denim heads showed off their fades and industry stalwarts leaned into their indigo roots, but Gen Z put their stamp on denim with trendy looks.

Harnesses and jeans tethered together with safety pins highlighted the grunge and punk revival filtering across fashion. Maxi skirts and frayed bucket hats added a youthful vibe. Light-wash denim was also prominent, hinting at what’s to come later this summer.
