King Felipe was one of the many high profile guests in attendance at the Wimbledon men's finals yesterday, and he sat in the royal box along with Kate Middleton, Prince William, Princess Charlotte, Prince George, Daniel Craig, and Rachel Weisz.

He was there to cheer on Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz, who triumphed in a thrilling five-set match against Novak Djokovic. After the match, Alcaraz said in his victory speech, "It's special to play in front of royalty. King Felipe, I am really proud that you are here supporting me. When I played in front of you twice, twice I won — I hope you are coming more! It is really special, and I have to thank you for coming and supporting!"

King Felipe and the Windsors share a royal relative: both King Felipe and Prince William are descendants of Queen Victoria, and of King George I of Greece.

After the match ended, the Spanish royal family's official social media accounts shared behind-the-scenes photos from the day, including images of King Felipe meeting Alcaraz and Djokovic, and of the Wales family—Kate, William, George, and Charlotte—clapping in the All England Lawn Tennis Club Player's Lounge (see above).

The last time Felipe attended Wimbledon was way back in 2008, when Rafael Nadal won the famed grass court tournament for the first time. Last year, after Alcaraz won the 2022 US Open, King Felipe hosted the young tennis star at Zarzuela Palace.
