While Americans' eyes may be on the British royals most of the time, the Spanish royals are just as fascinating (and stylish). And this weekend, King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited the U.S. for a series of exciting celebrations.

On Friday, the Spanish monarchs flew to New Orleans to celebrate the city's tricentennial, as Louisiana was a Spanish colony from 1763 to 1802. The couple then flew to San Antonio. As KSAT 12 News reports, the visit by the royals marks the first time in three decades that San Antonio played host to the King and Queen of Spain. The visit was also to celebrate the city's tricentennial, as well as its roots as a Spanish colonial village.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia had a jam-packed visit after arriving in the Texas city on Saturday evening. On Sunday, they met with the public at the Spanish Governor's Palace, where they were presented with a tricentennial plaque by San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and other city leaders. Crowds waited outside of the palace to catch a glimpse of the royal couple, and the King and Queen shook hands with well-wishers.

The royals then went on a private tour of Mission San José before returning downtown to the Bexar County Courthouse, where they attended the inauguration of an exhibit called "Designing America: Spain’s Imprint in the U.S."

Later on Sunday, the couple had a private dinner with Texas Governor Greg Abbott and other city officials.

Monday will be the royals' last day in San Antonio, and they will visit the Tricentennial Exhibit at the San Antonio Museum of Art before flying to Washington, D.C. to meet with President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. Queen Letizia is scheduled to meet with the First Lady for tea, according to Women's Wear Daily.
