King Charles Taps Broadway Legend for Coronation Music

It's good to be the king.

Following months of reports of difficulty enlisting performers for his coronation, King Charles III got some help from a legend for his song list.

Broadway icon Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote a new original track for Charles to serve as the coronation anthem.

"My anthem includes words slightly adapted from Psalm 98. I have scored it for the Westminster Abbey choir and organ, the ceremonial brass and orchestra," Lloyd Webber said in a statement. "I hope my anthem reflects this joyful occasion."

The theme of the piece is "joyful noise," the composer added. The song was scored specifically for Westminster Abbey's organ and choir, according to NPR.

The song is among 12 original compositions the King commissioned for the occasion from various artists.

Other composers whose works are featured in the ceremony include Sarah Class, Nigel Hess, Paul Mealor, Tarik O'Regan, Roxanna Panufnik, Shirley J. Thompson, Judith Weir, Roderick Williams and Debbie Wiseman.

Charles will also honor the memory of the late Prince Philip with a performance of Greek Orthodox music performed by the Byzantine Chant Ensemble.
