King Charles and Queen Camilla Unveil Their Festive Christmas Card

King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla spread holiday cheer this afternoon with the release of their 2023 Christmas card.

The spirited card, which marks the pair's second holiday season as king and queen consort, features an image of the smiling couple, framed by a simple but elegant red border. Their chosen photo, which was captured by photographer Hugo Burnand, shows the pair in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace following their coronation in May.

The queen consort is pictured wearing her white coronation coat dress designed by Bruce Oldfield, which features delicate gold and silver floral embroidery. Layered over the dress is her purple velvet Robe of Estate made by Ede and Ravenscroft—a subtle nod to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who wore it during her 1953 coronation. The king was captured alongside her in his matching gold-embroidered purple velvet Robe of Estate, also by Ede and Ravenscroft, and coronation tunic. To top off their looks, the queen consort wore Queen Mary’s crown, while the king wore the Imperial State crown.

“Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year,” the card reads in red text.

Buckingham Palace dropped the holiday card following Queen Consort Camilla's festive Thursday outing, when she attended an annual carol concert at St. Paul’s Cathedral for the cancer support charity Maggie’s. The queen consort, who has served as the president of Maggie’s since 2008, looked elegant in a long white coat decorated with floral brooches on the collar, along with black knee-high boots and a matching clutch.
