The Kindle Scribe is Amazon's first-ever writing tablet, and a darn good one at that. Here's the thing, though: It's not cheap. The base model sells for $339.99, and if you want it with the Premium Pen, add another $30 to the price tag. Even if you were lucky enough to snag one during Prime Day, at best you'd have saved around 15%. The Kindle Scribe is a really nice writing tablet and a pretty good e-reader. Its minor flaws are much easier to forgive if you're able to take almost $100 off the price. See below to learn how.

Here are the two things you'll need to snag this deal:

• An Amazon Prime Visa credit card

• An old Amazon device to trade in

For those unfamiliar with it, Amazon's Prime Visa card normally pays you 5% cash back on all Amazon purchases. It's a no-annual-fee card and, to my thinking, a no-brainer if you shop there a lot. (Granted, you need an Amazon Prime subscription in order to qualify for the card, but the cash back earned throughout the year may well cover that cost — and then some.)

Right now, however, buying a Kindle Scribe will net you 10% back. (This isn't uncommon; Amazon typically offers a rotating selection of products that double the usual cash-back amount. You can even find a few that pay 15% or even 20% back!)

Next, if you have just about any old Amazon device lying around, whether it's an Echo Dot or Fire tablet or even Kindle, you can take advantage of Amazon's trade-in program to save an additional 20%.
