Kind Woman Takes Home Lost German Shepherd She Found on Walk and Everyone's Invested

Sometimes you're ready to find a dog and other times the dog finds you. Or that's what it seems like for one woman, who was out on a walk when a German Shepherd saddled up to her. And now people online are telling her it was meant to be.

It wasn't just that the woman happened to stumble upon the dog while she was out strolling, the dog seemed pretty keen to stick close by.

The woman, who goes by @.redstardust online, was probably so confused when the stray German Shepherd started walking next to her on her morning walk.

"I don't know whose dog this is, but he went on my morning walk with me," she joked in the video's onscreen caption.

Walking together would've been one thing, but the dog didn't want to leave. He waited outside the woman's house until she came outside and kindly gave him some food and water. The dog had no visible collar, so the question remained: whose dog was this?

"I’m betting someone just dropped him off out here Shake My Head (SMH). Poor baby," the woman guessed in the caption.

People in the comments section were convinced that the meeting was fate. "You’ve now been promoted!" joked one person. "That's your dog now," someone else agreed. "Girl, if you don't adopt him right now!!!!" exclaimed another commenter. "Those dogs don’t like people they don’t know, he def chose you!!" someone else added.

What to Do When You Find a Stray Dog

The video brings up a really good point — what should you do if you find a stray dog? First, you'll need to reach out to your local animal shelter or animal control office. They'll have more information about whether or not there was a missing pet report filled and can keep an ear out in case the stray has an owner looking for them.

If the animal has a microchip, you'll want to get them scanned. That can also help you track down an owner if there is one.

If you decide to bring the animal home, you'll want to make a missing pet flier to post around the area. Also keep them separated from any other animals in the home in case they are sick or don't get along well with other pets.

Veterinary hospitals and resources like petfinder.com will also post notices of missing pets. You'll want to check the laws in your state if you've decided to keep the little guy and then make a visit to the veterinarian to make sure they have all their shots and are healthy too.

There are definitely a lot of moving parts when you find a stray, so it's best to do what's in the dog's best interest to get them safe and secure.
