Kind People Team Up With Texas Rescue to Catch Abandoned Pet Rat
There are so many viral stories about dog rescues and cats transformed by adoption, but they're not the only species that need saving. @Centraltexasratrescue recently received a call from a couple who spotted a domestic rat hiding on their porch, and they were happy to come to the rescue.
Fortunately, getting the black and white rat out of his hiding spot only took some snacks and a bit of coaxing. Jean-Luc the rat is now getting ready for adoption thanks to the good samaritans and the experienced animal rescuers.

We love a happy ending like this one! Jean-Luc seems like such a gentle soul, and he was so lucky to find the porch of such kindhearted people. The couple had actually been giving the rodent food and water for weeks before he was captured, and if it weren't for them, he might not be alive today.
Central Texas is home to many animal species that eat rats, such as coyotes and cats, but we are so relieved that the couple recognized the pet rat. He could never have survived on his own!
"Defiantly someone’s pet either got loose or dumped," agreed @cassidirobin. "So happy he’s somewhere safe!" So are we! Jean-Luc is going to make a wonderful companion for someone, and now he's one step closer to making that dream a reality.
Unsurprisingly, everyone loved the little squeak that came out of the startled rat when his rescuer picked him up. He may have been a bit startled, but he's safe! As @centraltexasratrescue explained, "No one come at me for scaring him. My goal was to catch him ASAP, plain and simple. Not risking losing him by nicey nice fails." That makes sense! And now that Jean-Luc is safe and sound, he can get ready for the next chapter of his life.
