Kimberley Alpine Resort Shows Off Impressive "Dummy Downhill" Creations

Dummy downhills—wherein challengers strap skis to artistic creations and send them, well, downhill—are time-honored late-season traditions at countless ski resorts.

Kimberley Alpine Resort, British Columbia, just wrapped up its iteration of the dummy downhill, taking to Facebook to show off what local skiers turned up.

Check out the impressive dummies below.

Personally, my favorite creation is the one with the sign that says "El Niño Blows." As a Montana resident—and recipient of only a few powder days this winter—I couldn't agree more.

Kimberley's dummy downhill was held on its final day of the season, April 7th. The rules for the event were simple: construct a dummy that adheres to certain specifications and launch it off a jump at Kimberley's base area. Explosive wipeouts presumably ensued.

Prizes for the dummy downhill were awarded based on several categories: crowd favorite, best carnage, biggest air, and judges' choice. Ticket sales (entry cost $10) benefitted a local charity.

With winter wrapped up, Kimberly skiers have officially started the waiting game. Hopefully, memories of airborne dummies can sustain them through the warmer months.
