Kim Kardashian's Post-Baby Workout Is the Reason Moms Hate Themselves

After I had each of my children, I worked out like a maniac to lose the 30 pounds I'd gained while pregnant. And when I say I worked out like a maniac, I mean every single day, I exercised for about 30 minutes. That's no easy feat when you're a mom of three. But maybe if I'd had more time—and more help—I would have tried Kim Kardashian's killer workout routine, which as she shared on Instagram recently, consists of "running four miles, planks, pushups, 1,000 jump ropes, and abs."

Wow, I suck.

In all seriousness, I can't hate on the celeb mom of two for wanting to lose the baby weight she gained, which she shared totaled a hefty 60 pounds with her son Saint. And I can't hate on her for busting her famous butt in the gym to look, and feel good, about herself. I get it.

Can I hate on how intense the pressure is for moms to look perfect after having babies? Yup. And I can only imagine that pressure is magnified by about a trillion when you are Kim Kardashian, and as Romper.com points out, being photographed doing everything is basically your job.

That being said, come on, Kim! Jumping rope 1,000 times is a punishment, not a workout. No, I'm sure it's awesome, actually, if you survive. But what are the rest of us not-famous mamas supposed to think when we see you back at your self-proclaimed ideal weight of 120 pounds, looking like you never had a baby? I'll tell you: We are supposed to think we have to look like you, with not-as-ample curves and more clothes on.

And so, the vicious cycle is perpetuated. Famous moms do a zillion planks and burpees, get their itty-bitty waists back, and then we see them on social media and magazines and feel crappy about our own imperfect bodies.

Sigh.

Good thing not every celebrity mom is quite so hard on herself when it comes to losing weight after baby. What would we do without the Anne Hathaways and Pinks of the world? Thanks for keeping it real, mamas!

What is your take?
