It seems the clean girl makeup aesthetic — minimalist, understated, and fresh — has trickled down to nail looks. Kim Kardashian, whose manicures I’ve admired over the years, evidenced my theory recently, when she donned a pinky beige nail look that could aptly be described as understated, versatile, and undeniably chic.

Kardashian’s manicure relied on a trio of nail products, all of which you can purchase at Amazon. Best of all, the linchpin of Kardashian’s look, Essie Gel Couture Polish in the shade Fairy Tailor, is just $12. Moreover, two additional Essie products  — the Gel Couture Top Coat and the Roll-On Apricot Cuticle Oil — which were used to complete Kardashian’s minimalistic manicure are on sale for a limited time right now.

Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish is a high-shine, long lasting air-dry varnish that delivers a plump look and feel reminiscent of a gel manicure. The shade Fairy Tailor is a semi-sheer pinky-beige hue that flatters all skin tones with a barely there wash of color. One or two coats gives nails a clean, fresh look that pairs perfectly with any outfit.

Nail artist and Nails of LA founder, Brittney Boyce — who has worked extensively with Kardashian, in addition to Megan Fox — created the Skims founder’s look, dubbing Fairy Tailor the “perfect milky sheer neutral shade,” to “complement the length and shape of Kim’s nails,” via a press release.

Boyce applied two coats of the semi-sheer polish to Kardashian’s medium-length oval nails. To amplify shine, Boyce sealed the manicure with the Gel Couture top coat. Finally, Boyce applied cuticle oil — specifically, the Apricot Cuticle Oil, also from Essie — to soften any dry skin and deliver an ultra-clean finish.

I’ve been a Gel Couture devotee since the line of plump, gel-like, polishes launched. In addition to a rainbow of stylish colors offered, the collection is among the easiest to use thanks to a rounded brush head — a shape that allows for covering the entire nail, right to the edge, in a single swipe. Furthermore, the finish is notably glossy — and, true to its name, gel-like in appearance. As a gel polish aficionado, I can confirm that Gel Couture, though its formula is technically air-dry, delivers a plump, high-shine finish that is truly comparable to its namesake.

Of course, air-dry polish is inherently less durable than gel, which can remain chip-free for up to two weeks. That said, Essie’s gel-adjacent polish does last longer than most air dry polishes I’ve tried, with glossy, nickless wear for around a week, in my experience, when used with the corresponding topcoat. Another benefit is its relatively speedy dry time, which, per the brand, is no longer than 15 minutes. In my experience, this polish is dry to the touch somewhere in the 10 minute range — and even faster when I employ polish-drying drops.

For a user-friendly, gel-like polish that requires no curing, shop Kardashian’s understated polish shade, Fairy Tailor, from Essie Gel Couture, for $12 at Amazon. While you’re at it, don’t forget to  snag the topcoat and cuticle oil on sale, too. But hurry — these products will undoubtedly return to full price soon.
