Kim Kardashian West Shares a Throwback Picture Minus Her Hair Extensions and Fake Lashes

2007 was a simpler time.

Kim Kardashian West is arguably the beauty icon of our time, but that status and expertise have been hard won over years of lessons and missteps. Kardashian West took to Instagram on Friday to reflect on a simpler time: 2007, well before the mogul had adopted and perfected the look we now know and love.

Kardashian West posted the throwback picture, writing that it came from "before I knew what hair extensions and fake lashes were. 😂"

The over-the-shoulder photo from a step and repeat in 2007 shows a very different Kim than the one we know today, so much so that many commenters said that she looked more like her older sister Kourtney than her present-day self. As stated, she's rocking only her own hair and lashes. She's also wearing a rosy cheek instead of her now-standard matted contour and a much thinner, natural brow, which, to be fair to Kim, was in style in '07.

Today, Kardashian West is known for switching up her hair often, wearing butt-length extensions and wigs in lots of different colors and styles. As for the lashes, her favorite falsies come from Huda Beauty. Here's a recent selfie pic from the celeb to compare and contrast:

Kardashian West has never been afraid to reflect on her fashion and beauty blunders of years past in good humor. Back in May, she shared this amazing photo from when she was 17 and matched her eye shadow to her dress, and even to her homemade hair clips.

In a post on her app last year when she reflected on some of her biggest beauty mistakes, she seems to be referencing a look similar to this one. "I love a monochromatic look, but this was just so cheesy," she wrote. "In the early 2000s, I would do a lot of bright colors, especially turquoise. I wore a turquoise top and turquoise eye makeup — and even turquoise flower hair clips!" And while she obviously thinks the old trends are pretty funny, she also says she'd "never do it again."

But let's be real, who among us didn't do those exact things over a decade ago? Considering Kardashian West has been a trend follower and a trendsetter, it's great to have a good sense of humor about trends that have fallen by the wayside.
