This is how Kim Kardashian does wedding wear – is it appropriate?

Rapper Pusha T (born Terrence LeVarr Thornton), married his longtime girlfriend, Virginia Joy Williams, in a lovely ceremony in Virginia Beach last night, but all the internet is talking about is Kim Kardashian’s gold minidress.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, who attended the wedding with husband Kanye West who has collaborated with Pusha T shared a video on her Instagram account of the couple getting ready. The short clips show Kanye suited up in a black tuxedo and Kim wearing what she called a “vintage Balmain” look, which she paired with a crystal encrusted old school block cellphone that was actually a purse.

While Kim undeniably looks amazing, is a gold minidress an appropriate choice for a wedding? People commenting on social media posts featuring the couple thought not.

Uhm, why is she wearing something loud to a wedding? Never take focus off the bride,” wrote one commenter on the Shade Room.

Another wrote, “she look stupid that look like a party dress.”

One pointed out her dress looked like she was going out on the town, writing, “this a wedding right? why kim dressed like its the club???”

Are they right? According to Brides magazine, Kim’s hemline and glitzy look pushes the boundaries of black-tie dress code. Of wearing a cocktail dress to a black-tie event, they say, “For this occasion, it’s not recommended to show too much skin. Rather, keep the hemline modest and keep any cleavage to a minimum. Steer clear of anything that looks like you’re going to a club or NYE party.”

They also note it’s important not to upstage the bride, as commenters also called out. Brides writes, “You need only ask yourself one simple question: Are you going to upstage the bride? If there’s even a chance, wear something else. This isn’t the time for head-to-toe crystals.”

The newly married couple were unbothered, and all smiles in photos and videos that were shared all over the internet.

The Wests joined singer Pharrell, who was the best man, and his brother Clipse, who performed officiant duties.

Never one for being shy or low-key, despite her declaring otherwise, Kim may have gotten exactly what she wanted by wearing that gold minidress. Our attention.
