This is the second time Kardashian's worn the memorable outfit.
Kim Kardashian finally shared pictures from her big birthday bash this year–about a month late. The media mogul turned 42 on Oct. 21, and her family went all out for the big day.
Kris Jenner attempted to surprise her daughter with a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, to see Usher in concert, but unfortunately, bad weather forced them all to turn around and return to California.
Still, as Kardashian said in her social media post, "It’s all about the journey anyway."
Well, even with the unexpected change of plans, Kardashian looked good for the occasion, rocking a sparkly outfit that some people might recognize.
In the birthday pictures on Instagram, Kardashian has on a sparkly bra and pants to match, along with a thick sparkling choker necklace.
For those who felt like the outfit seemed familiar, it's actually the same bra top that the late pop star Aaliyah wore for her music video for "Try Again," which came out in 2000.
The crystal bra is from Dolce & Gabbana. Kardashian previously wore a custom version of the top for a Halloween costume in 2017, in which she copied Aaliyah's music video outfit. The television personality received backlash for the costume, with some calling it cultural appropriation.
Kardashian apologized for the outfit on her old website, via People, saying, "Aaliyah was such an amazing singer and she will forever be a music legend. I saw online that some people thought my costume was in poor taste and I am truly sorry if that offended anyone."
This time around, Kardashian's outfit likely paid tribute to Aaliyah's look, but it also had to do with her connection with the fashion house Dolce & Gabbana.
For Milan Fashion Week in September, Kardashian curated a collection of outfits from archived items from 1987 and on, and the crystal bra was included in one of the looks.
Now, Kardashian has access to the entire archive of old Dolce & Gabbana clothing, and it looks like she decided the bra and choker were the perfect pieces for her birthday party.
In the Instagram post, Kardashian parties with friends on the plane, in what looks like a tour bus or limo, and even in an In-N-Out, where the group might've decided was the perfect place to go when the concert plans were canceled.
