Kim Kardashian Sparks Backlash for 'Splurging So Extravagantly' on Holiday Decor

The Kar-Jenners are no strangers to ridicule about flaunting their wealth on social media—but this time, folks are calling out Kim Kardashian for "splurging so extravagantly" on holiday decor.
On Friday, Dec. 22, the SKIMS mogul took to Instagram to share a video showing off her outdoor Christmas lights and indoor decorations. "a little bit of my holiday decor this year 🤍🎄," she captioned the post.
The video began with showing off the brightly-lit trees in Kardashian's yard before transitioning to a walking tour of her decked-out home. Although the reality star's house is known for its minimalist aesthetic with white whites, furniture, carpet, cabinets, etc., Kardashian filled it with pine trees. What appears to be real trees coated in a fake layer of frost lined a long hallway—with one main tree featuring twinkling lights.
Kardashian's followers didn't hold back with their opinions. One Instagram user wrote, "It still looks like a hospital/mental institution though. Just with lights and trees."
Another person dissed the all-white palette, commenting, "Kim, why don't we like color honey.....😂"

Other Instagram users criticized Kardashian for how she opted to spend her money this holiday season. One follower wrote, "Chopping a forest down for self gratification; go spend a weekend in Gaza."
Someone else pointe out, "One of those trees would have probably helped us financially for a year… but yeah good on you for splurging sooo extravagantly."
Another snarked, "Imagine if all that money she spent went to charity instead of turning her hallway into a forest for a few weeks…"
Still, a different Instagram user defended Kardashian, writing, "I don't understand how people can give their opinion or talk about how other people spend their money, when EVERYONE has stupid purchases! Kim, your house looks fantastic, and it is definitely not a bad purchase, other people's finances are not your responsibility.😘😘."
