Kim Kardashian Says She Named Her Daughter North Because of Jay Leno
In a video posted to Kylie Jenner's YouTube channel, the beauty magnate and her older sister, Kim Kardashian, have some one-on-one time that involves makeup (naturally) and Kardashian letting viewers know exactly why her kids have their distinct names. Specifically, she talks about the name North, telling Jenner that she decided on the name after she appeared on The Tonight Show and then-host Jay Leno joked about it. Well, the name stuck and now, Kim and Kanye West's kids' names are the stuff of legend.
"I actually got it from Jay Leno, who made that as a joke," she told Jenner, adding that it took "four or five days" to finally decide. "Everyone was coming up to me like, 'It's such a cool name. You should really think about it.'" She added that she loved the name and her daughter seems to fit the moniker: "They really become the name you name them," she said.

During the show, which aired back in 2013, Kardashian and Leno were speaking about her pregnancy and the wild rumors that surrounded it, the baby's forthcoming name included.
“There are so many rumors. That is not true.”
“That is not one of the names on the list,” she said to Leno. She went on to say that she liked the name "Easton," which would have resulted in a baby named Easton West.
"It kind of goes with North," she said. "I think that's cute."
Kardashian settled on the name, but it took Pharrell Williams's stamp of approval. She told People that he gave her "all these meanings" for the word North and she was convinced it was the right thing to do.
As for the other kids' names, Kardashian explained those, too.
"Kanye came up with Saint," she said to Jenner. "Chicago took me like two weeks. And Psalm, you named him."
"Well, you thought of it. I vouched for it," she replied.

A source close to Kardashian and West told People that the name Psalm was a direct result of West's renewed interest in his faith.
"Kanye has been going through a spiritual revival lately. Every name has a meaning that is personal between Kanye and Kim and the child," a source said. "Psalm is a good reflection of where Kanye and Kim are spiritually."
