Controversy won't keep Kim Kardashian away from the Met Gala.

On May 1, The Kardashians star arrived dressed in a bold Schiaparelli ensemble for Fashion's biggest night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Kardashian's look, which was inspired by the evening's theme that honored late designer Karl Lagerfeld, consisted of a tight, skin-colored base that was covered with pearl-like beads. She topped the look with a cream colored cape and wore her hair in a classic updo.

Of course, the reality star's arrival comes a year after she infamously wore a dress made famous by late Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe to the 2022 Met Gala. The gown in question? The crystal-encrusted, Bob Mackie-designed dress that the Some Like It Hot star wore in 1962 to sing "Happy Birthday" to President John F. Kennedy.

"I always thought [Marilyn] was extremely curvy. I imagined I might be smaller in some places where she was bigger and bigger in places where she was smaller," the SKIMS founder previously told Vogue of trying the dress on for the first time. "So when it didn't fit me I wanted to cry because it can't be altered at all."

Kardashian went on to lose 16 pounds to fit into the iconic number, and assured Vogue that she was "extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history."

She added, "I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it."

For clarity, Kardashian only wore the dress on the red carpet before changing into a duplicate for the gala itself.

Nonetheless, Kardashian's decision to wear one of Monroe's most famous looks for the event, themed "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," was met with backlash.

The dress' designer, 83, even hit back, telling Entertainment Weekly at the time, "I thought it was a big mistake. [Marilyn] was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her. Nobody else should be seen in that dress."

It's safe to say Kardashian played it much safer for this year's event.
