Kim Kardashian Just Debuted "Cold Brew Hair" for Fall

(UPDATE October 8, 2019): Over the weekend, Kim Kardashian's hairstylist Chris Appleton posted a stunning shot of the KKW Beauty founder with a much lighter brown hair color than she normally wears. What's more: The caption, "Autumn hair color Cool Chocolate brown 🍂" implied that Appleton had, indeed, helped Kardashian go lighter for fall. Little did we know, Kardashian's seemingly new hair color was actually courtesy of a wig.

Kardashian herself gave it away when she posted the same photo to her own account with the caption, "I always debate dying my hair this brown color. Thoughts?" Additionally, Appleton has since posted two new photos of the 39-year-old mom of four in which her hair is back to its usual black-brown hue.

While Kardashian kills it in any hair color, this coffee-brown shade would be a refreshing change for fall. As for whether she'll actually take the plunge, we'll just have to wait and see.

Last year, "cold brew hair" was everywhere we turned and quickly became one of the hottest hair colors of the season. Now, we're officially experiencing a case of déjà vu as the cool brown, coffee-inspired hue is trending yet again this fall.

It's all thanks to Kim Kardashian and her longtime hairstylist, Chris Appleton, who took the KKW Beauty founder from black-brown to a much lighter and cooler shade of brunette this week. Appleton showed off his work on Instagram with the caption, "Autumn hair color Cool Chocolate brown 🍂" next to a photo of Kardashian making a kissy face at the camera and holding up the peace sign.

In the photo, Kim K.'s hair is decidedly lighter than her usual, nearly noir shade, and we can't help but notice that it looks reminiscent of the cold brew-inspired colors we witnessed on anyone and everyone — models, actresses, influencers, and everyday folks — just last fall. This could be due to the fact that it's such a universally flattering brunette shade that works on so many skin tones, or because it requires very little maintenance.

Fans seem to be loving the lighter brown look on Kardashian, too. Folks are leaving messages on Appleton's post like, "Her hair is always on point 😍 you’re the best!" and "Now I wanna dye my hair lol." Some people even tagged their hairstylists in the post with comments about wanting the exact color, and we definitely don't blame them.

For those unfamiliar with the hair-color trend, it's merely a rich, multidimensional shade of brown that features mostly cool tones and is perfect for brunettes who have a lot of red in their hair. That being said, you can work with your colorist to make it whatever you want it to be. The medium brown color is definitely one of the most popular hues for fall, though, so if you've been wanting to spice up your look for fall, definitely consider giving this java-themed color a go.
