Kim Kardashian Had a Whole Plan in Case She Missed Psalm West’s Birth While She Was at the Met Gala
Kim Kardashian went to New York City in the days leading up to Psalm West’s birth because she had to attend the Met Gala.
She had a whole plan in case her surrogate went into labor while she was out of state.
Apparently, Khloé Kardashian was really excited because “she wants the baby.”
Weeks after Kim Kardashian revealed that she leaked her own surrogacy news because she was drinking, she opened up about the crazy-stressful days leading up to Psalm West’s birth. In the latest episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim said she was this close to missing Psalm’s birth because she had to go to the Met Gala. But don’t worry, she had a whole plan in case Psalm came early while she was squeezing into that infamous corset.
First, lemme set the scene for you. It’s the spring of 2019 and Kim just landed her first solo Vogue cover. Per tradition, the May cover star attends the Met Gala, which happens on the first Monday in May. Kim had been preparing for this for almost an entire year, so when she found out that Psalm might be born around the same time, she was understandably stressed.
Ultimately, Kim decided she would go through with the Met Gala because she made a commitment. She said:
“I just have to get to the Met and back before the baby comes. [The surrogate] is due in eight days, but I’m gonna stay committed to the Met. I mean, it has taken eight months to get our Met look perfect, and I committed to it and I can’t miss this.”
Luckily, while Kanye West, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Travis Scott were in NYC with Kim, Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian were in California. Knowing that, Kim came up with a master plan and made sure Khloé would be there in case Psalm was born early. She explained, “My attorney has my sister’s number. Because I’m gonna be with two of my sisters and my mom and my husband. Khloé is hoping that this will happen while I’m gone because she wants the baby.”

Then Kim’s surrogate joked, “She’s like, ‘I’m gonna take the baby!’” And Kim was like, “No, no, no, this can’t happen!”
Obviously, everything worked out in the end, and Kim was able to go to the May 3 event, stay in touch with everyone back at home to make sure nothing went wrong, and make it back before Psalm was born in Los Angeles on May 9. All’s well that ends well!
