Kim Kardashian Had Kylie Jenner Do Her Makeup for Her Birthday Party
Kim Kardashian West turns 39 on October 21, so as you might expect anyone in the Kardashian-Jenner conglomerate to do, she spent the weekend leading up to her birthday with an outrageously lavish party — or not. Kardashian West did have a party to celebrate her next trip around the sun, but as her Instagram Stories on Saturday showed, it was quite low-key. She did, however, "hire" a very special makeup artist for the occasion: little sister and fellow beauty mogul Kylie Jenner.
"So for my birthday, I have a special makeup artist today," Kardashian West tells the viewers in a horizontal selfie-style video. She's already looking lovely with her hair pulled back in a low bun with a middle part, seemingly already wearing foundation, a nude matte lipstick, and mascara. However, it's time for blush, and Jenner is ready for the job.
We see Jenner approach Kardashian West with a square compact in Kylie Cosmetics' signature pastel pink — it's clearly one of her own blushes, though they don't reveal which shade. She uses a beige-handled brush with a black loop on the end to swirl the pressed powder formula onto the apples of Kardashian's cheeks. It's at this point that Kardashian smiles and says, "Look at your powder," as they both laugh about how Jenner's translucent powder is obviously still "baking" under her contoured cheeks.
Kardashian West also shared a few glimpses at her relatively laid-back birthday party, which involved a long dining table decked out in fun favors you could get at any party store, like napkins reading "Happy Birthday," pointy paper hats, plastic glasses with phrases on the lenses, and two bouquets of peach balloons hovering over letters that spelled out "HAPPY KIM DAY."
And it really was "Kim Day" in more than one way. In addition to Kardashian West's birthday, this weekend also marks KKW Beauty’s official arrival at Ulta, making it a bit ironic that she'd wear her sister's makeup (also available at Ulta) instead of her own at this doubly significant time. She does make her own blush, after all.
But either way, getting a mini glam-squad session from your little sister makes for a pretty sweet birthday gift.
