Killington Measures 340-Inch Base Depth On Superstar Trail

Officials at Killington, VT, congratulated "Josh A. for guessing this season's maximum snow depth on Superstar at 340 inches."

They also acknowledged the man-made component to this story, writing, "shoutout to our snowmaking team for their tireless efforts ensuring us skiing and riding terrain deep into spring." See below.

Shortly earlier, Killington asked skiers to guess the maximum depth on Superstar, and they promised to give a GoPro to whoever got it right to the nearest inch.

So, we'll be looking out for Josh's edits soon! See below.

The snow depth measurement was taken on March 27th as opposed to today, but the listed snow depth, according to Killington's website, is 17 inches.

Killington received 3 inches of fresh snow over the last week and received 239 inches of snow this season in total, so the 340 inch base depth, as officials mentioned, comes largely from snowmaking.

The morning message today reminded us that although "spring has sprung at The Beast," there are still over 80 open trails at the resort.

Even better, temps fell below freezing last night. In true spring fashion, they will rise throughout the day into the high 40s by the afternoon.

But also on a positive note, today's weather will be nicer than the past two days with more consistent sun throughout the day and a few afternoon clouds.

Conditions may be firm for the first hour or so due to the overnight freeze, but should soften up as the sun gets on everything.

Their grooming team put down some corduroy on Cascade, East Fall, Easy Street, and Blue Heaven, among others, but with over 80 trails to choose from, there's plenty of time to mix things up and play the game of chasing the best conditions all day.

Of course, Superstar has a base depth of 340 inches, so it's hard to beat that.
