If you watch enough true crime, then you already know that whenever someone dies under mysterious circumstances, the people closest to them are usually the first suspects. The same is true of Megan Landry.

Luke and Megan were childhood besties and decided to take their relationship to the next level and start dating. Viewers were first introduced to Megan as a wholesome computer genius, but as the series jumped to the summer of 2000, she switched up her style for an all-black emo look. Initially, it appeared as though Megan's change was due to the loss of her boyfriend, but as the episodes progressed, a more sinister plot unfolded.

She snuck out of her house to meet with a man, who she accused of talking to the police, and handed him a floppy disk in exchange for money. Megan was later spotted in a cabin scrubbing blood off of the floor before Luke's body was found. Plus, Isabella told Megan, "We have to get our story straight," as they watched the police pull his dead body from the lake. As if that's not even evidence, Luke was last seen leaving a New Year's party with Megan.

Isabella LaRue

Isabella was a mysterious foreign exchange student and became fast friends with Luke during the summer of 1999. It took Isabella a little longer to warm up to Megan, but when she did, she asked if Megan and Luke were dating, and Megan said no. Their friendship appeared to grow, and as the episode continued, viewers learned that Megan and Isabella were keeping a secret.

The truth about Isabella's identity became more of a mystery after viewers discovered that she lied about being a well-traveled child of two diplomats and had her picture on a driver's license for someone named Pat Highsmith.

Luke was filmed having sex with someone the video was played during his father's holiday party. Everyone believed that he was in the video with Isabella because of the sweater that she was wearing, but it was actually Megan. Could the backlash from the video have been a good enough reason for Isabella to hurt Luke? In one of the most suspicious moves ever, Isabella told Megan that she planned on skipping town once his body was discovered.

Jeff

Jeff's love for filmmaking and habit of walking around with his camera made him a prime suspect in the sex tape leak, especially because he had a long-standing crush on Megan. While he appeared to have a friendship with both Megan and Luke, things somehow took a turn for the worse. Could Jeff's feelings for Megan have driven him to kill?

The Mysterious Man in the Woods

A mysterious man lived next door to the Chambers family, and he was one of the only people spotted with a gun in the first two episodes. Viewers learned that the man was worth millions but left his job at Apple once he became a conspiracy theorist and moved into the woods. When Luke's body was discovered, the unnamed neighbor shared a knowing look with Megan, possibly hinting that they were in the cahoots about something.
