Kiernan Shipka's Killer Abs Are Toned AF In A Crop Top On The SXSW Red Carpet
  • Kiernan Shipka is looking fitter and stronger than ever.

  • The 22-year-old actress recently stepped out to attend the SXSW premiere of her new film, Swimming with Sharks. And she wore a bustier crop top that totally accentuated her super-toned core.

  • She stays fit by doing some serious strength training with Harley Pasternak, who also works with Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga. She's also massively into veggies.


Kiernan Shipka's outfit at the premiere of her new film, Swimming with Sharks, at the South By Southwest festival is such a fashion statement. The 22-year-old star rocked a bustier crop top that showcased her super strong arms and (literal) washboard abs with pointy black heels. And I am obsessed!

But back to those abs. Kiernan, 22, shared with Byrdie that one of her favorite workouts is yoga. "Getting some good movement is really important to clear my brain when I can. I love yoga; I love going on walks. If I’m feeling fun and wild, maybe a class."

But she also gets in some serious strength training with her personal trainer, Harley Pasternak (who also trains Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga). And he's shared two amazing videos of their workouts together, both highlighting Kiernan's next-level leg and core strength. The first was in February 2021, and in the video, Kiernan is doing a Nordic hamstring curl. Pasternak wrote, "In over 28 years of training people, I have never seen a person do Nordic curls as well as @kiernanshipka."

And in the second video from April 2021, Kiernan shows off another impressive Nordic hamstring curl, as well as some impressive dumbbell stiff leg deadlifts using two 45-pound weights. "The Queen of lean and mean hamstrings, @kiernanshipka absolutely MASTERING the Nordic curl and the dumbbell stiff leg deadlifts," Pasternak captioned his post. "There are two ways of properly trained in your hamstrings, hip extension and knee flexion. The Nordic curl is about as intense as you can get for eccentric knee flexion, and the deadlift is all about hip extension. Both of these important movements strengthen the back of the lower body."

As for nutrition, Kiernan eats a super healthy diet with lots of veggies (her faves are cauliflower and celery) and meat. And she loves to cook: "I cook vegetables and meat, and that’s pretty much where it ends. I’m so into vegetables," she shared with Byrdie. And one of her favorite dishes is roasted celery.

"It’ll change how you look at celery. Because right now you look at it like ants on a log, and that only goes so far. But if you toss it with some good-quality oil, salt, pepper, even get some oregano and thyme up in there, and then roast it at 400º for like 45 minutes, you’re gonna love celery all of a sudden," she shared.

She also starts her mornings with a mushroom drink. "The drink I make myself in the morning is pretty, too. It’s a latte that’s got Ashwagandha and Cordyceps and all sorts of powders and superpower-y things. I’m just getting into this stuff," she said.
