Kiernan Shipka Teases "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" on Instagram
It may be July, but Kiernan Shipka already has me dreaming of Halloween.
Just days after sharing the first poster for her upcoming series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the actor, who is slated to portray Sabrina Spellman, further teased fans with a video from the show’s set. Fittingly posted on Friday the 13th, the Instagram was enough to send any '90s baby flashing back to their childhood.
“Hey, witches,” says a solo Kiernan, clad in her character’s signature black headband and turtleneck, before panning to fellow cast members Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Gavin Leatherwood, and Chance Perdomo. All within the focus of the camera, the squad croons in unison: “Welcome to our coven.”
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is the latest Netflix original to explore the dark side of the supernatural. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show, which is a spinoff of the early 2000s hit Sabrina the Teenage Witch, will depict Sabrina “wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her.”
Though no air date has been announced, the show’s cast and crew continue to offer fans a steady glimpse into their witchy world. Show runner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who is also the brains behind Riverdale, tweeted a sneak peek of his own on Friday. The teaser came in the form of a 10-second clip filled with spooky motifs like candles, an ominous forest, and a pair of cat eyes that can only belong to Sabrina’s iconic accomplice Salem.
“Something wicked this way comes…" the tweet reads. “The @sabrinanetflix account is up and running. Getting closer....this is going to be a wild ride. Get onboard!”
