The sophomore season of Hulu's The Kardashians premiered on Thursday with an emotional episode focused on Khloé Kardashian's journey to becoming a mother of two and the aftermath of Tristan Thompson's paternity scandal, which was covered during the season 1 finale.

The family kept this news under wraps for months until going public in July just weeks before the arrival.

At the end of the show, cameras captured the birth of Kardashian's son and gave fans the first look at the newest member of the family. Some footage of the surrogate's delivery was filmed by Khloé's older sister Kim Kardashian, who accompanied the new mother-of-two to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Once the baby arrived, Khloé held the newborn and called her relatives, and Thompson later came to the hospital to meet his son.

Throughout the premiere, the audience sees a struggling Khloé who is riddled with anxiety and unable to process the impending arrival of her son — not to mention terrified of what the public's reaction will be. Her sisters Kim, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, and mom Kris Jenner, express concern and empathy for Khloé and decide to throw her an intimate, Leo-themed baby shower. Once her son arrives, Kardashian says she's ready to move on and enjoy this exciting time.

"I am so grateful. It's such a beautiful gift that we're able to have," she said in a confessional. "Ever since December, it's been this dark cloud looming over me. Every single day, I've been feeling depressed and sad, and now that my son is here, I get to move on, and I get to enjoy. It's almost like I get to close that chapter and be done with this trauma and put it behind me."

"Now I finally get to start the healing process," she added. "Now I get to start enjoying my life with two kids in it and figuring this out. This is gonna be day one, and this is gonna be the start of something positive, and happy and beautiful."
