KFC Launched an Unexpected New Menu Item This Week Combing Classic Sides

Besides its signature fried chicken, KFC is also loved by many dedicated customers for its potato dishes, whether they're served as mashed potatoes or French fries. With its newest menu offering, rolling out at KFC locations across the country this week, the fast food giant is combining two of its most popular potato products.

The new Smash'd Potato Bowl is made of mashed potatoes and topped with KFC's special Secret Recipe Fries, cheese sauce, bacon bits, and a three-cheese blend. And the best part? The filling menu item only costs $3.49. If you want to kick it up a notch, you can add five chicken nuggets on top for $2 more.

KFC U.S. chief marketing officer Nick Chavez expressed the company's excitement over the new offering in a statement. "Now you can smash your hunger with our new Smash'd Potato Bowls, which take comfort to an 11 with a unique twist on all your favorite KFC flavors smashed together. If you like our Famous Bowls, you're going to love this new bowl," he said. "At just $3.49, it's a comforting meal deal."

The new Smash'd Potato Bowl joins KFC's family of Famous Bowls. The original KFC Famous Bowl consists of mashed potatoes, sweet corn, and chicken nuggets topped with home-style gravy and a blend of three shredded cheeses. The Smash'd Potato Bowl reinvents this formula by adding KFC's beloved crispy French fries to the mix, adding new textures and flavors to a long-running menu item.
