Keystone Resort Announces Trail Names For Highly-Anticipated Bergman Bowl Expansion

Keystone Resort, Colorado is under-going a major transformation that's centered around the development of Bergman Bowl.

Check out the video below to learn about the new chairlift coming to Bergman, how the trails were named, and what else you can expect next season at Keystone:

Bergman Bowl has offered hike-able terrain for years to those looking to earn their turns. The construction of the Bergman Express will immediately change how this high-alpine terrain is utilized for years to come.

The lift will be a high-speed detachable six-person lift made by Leitner-Poma. It will provide access to 550 acres of bowls and glades, 16 named trails, and at least one groomed run. Much of the terrain in Bergman and Erickson Bowls is above treeline.

Here are the newly-named trails of Bergman and Erikson Bowls along with a new trail map:

Bergman Bowl Trail Names: Jane’s Journey, Miners, Quandary, Ten Mile, Thorne, Ute, Buffalo, Ptarmigan, Red, Torreys, Grays, Wichita, Uneva

Erikson Bowl Trail Names: Tenderfoot, Nuchu, Silverheels

Here are more details about the expansion from Keystone Resort:

"Construction is set to continue this summer to bring lift-served access to more than 550 acres of terrain in Bergman and Erickson Bowls for the 2023/24 winter season. As a part of this project, the resort is building a new high-speed 6-passenger chairlift in Bergman Bowl, as well as new trails and snowmaking. While Bergman and Erickson Bowls have previously been open for hike-to skiing and riding access at the resort, much of Keystone’s hike-to bowl terrain has largely gone under-utilized. For the first time ever next winter, both Bergman and Erickson Bowls will be accessible by lift to a variety of skiers and riders at the resort, with mellow and welcoming high alpine terrain. The new lift will allow guests to easily lap terrain in Bergman Bowl, as well as access more advanced terrain in Erickson Bowl that will connect back to the Outback Express and Wayback lifts. For those guests still looking to earn their turns and reach more untouched areas of the resort, 1,300+ acres of hike-to terrain will still be available in The Windows, North Bowl, South Bowl and Independence Bowl for expert skiers and riders."

Keystone is owned and operated by Vail Resorts. The company originally planned for the Bergman Bowl project to be completed last summer.

Unfortunately, construction crews violated the plan set forth by The United States Forest Service. The project was halted until this summer.

Here's hoping the Bergman Express is completed in time for next season. There are surely thousands of skiers in the Denver area chomping at the bit to ride the new lift and ski the terrain like they never have before.
