This Key West, Florida, Hotel Just Reopened on a Private Beach With Waterfront Suites, 2 Pools, and Great Restaurants

Casa Marina Key West, now part of Hilton's Curio Collection, recently reopened after a $79-million makeover.

Casa Marina, Key West's historic resort, which has hosted the likes of Ernest Hemingway and Rita Heyworth, has turned another page in its over a century-old history. After a five-month transformation that cost $79 million, the property, now part of Hilton's Curio collection, reopened on December 16, 2023, and is putting the final touches on a new beachfront restaurant, which will officially mark the beginning of the resort's next chapter.

"Key West is more than just the end of the continental U.S., it's a gateway to an entire way of living and vacationing, and this momentous occasion signifies the hotel's evolving legacy as we step into our next generation," John Trovato, the resort's managing director, told Travel + Leisure.

Sitting on the largest private beach on the southern shore of Key West, Casa Marina Key West, Curio Collection by Hilton now features 311 guest rooms and beachfront suites with private balconies and patios and elegant island-inspired decor. Blending original architectural features and custom-made furnishings, the interiors have a cozy residential feel with a distinct Key West feel thanks to the art pieces by local artists, printmakers, and photographers.

Flagler's, the property's original 1920 ballroom that spills outside and offers an elegant al fresco experience, is making a sophisticated comeback. Returning guests will enjoy the new Canary Room, a chic lounge covered in eclectic hand-painted palm trees and canaries, which pays homage to one of the resort's most prominent guests throughout the years, Ernest Hemingway. (Hemingway wrote a story called "A Canary for One.") A lengthy cocktail menu featuring rum flights inspired by some of the writer's most famous works is also a Canary Room highlight.

Dorada, the resort's brand-new dining concept, will open at the end of March and offer guests a Mediterranean menu of fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients, panoramic ocean views, and beachfront seating.

While families are welcomed in Casa Marina Key West, Curio Collection by Hilton, couples and solo travelers will certainly appreciate the adults-only pool, lined with private cabanas. Also exciting: the property has hired a resident sand sculptor to help guests up their sandcastle-building game. Travelers can also keep active at the two activity piers, where they can rent water sports gear.
