Kevin Wendt and Astrid Loch Are Engaged: Get the BiP Proposal Details
It’s another match made in paradise. Bachelor in Paradise’s Kevin Wendt and Astrid Loch, who met and fell in love on Season 5 of the ABC series, are engaged.
“I could have sworn the world stood still in this moment,” Loch wrote on Instagram. “A moment I’ll never forget. Just you + me. @kevin.c.wendt you’ve taught me to love, learn and grow and I can’t believe you’ve chosen me to spend this crazy life with. Wonder if I’ll ever stop smiling? Probably not. In this together, forever.”
Wendt echoed similar thoughts in his own post. “You’ll never walk alone again. From here on out, we run together. Astrid you are my family, babe. Forever.”

The engagement took place on August 28 in Wendt’s hometown of Toronto, Canada, where Loch moved in December. According to People, the firefighter proposed to his love to the sound of “Tequila” by Dan + Shay during a sunset picnic.
“I was so clueless,” Loch told the magazine of the proposal. “I feel like I pay attention to everything, and I had absolutely no clue.”
In addition to the sentimental location, Wendt selected a ring that had special meaning, too. The custom, cushion-cut bauble came from Wendt’s Jewellry, a family business opened by his great-great-grandfather in 1884.
While he meticulously prepared the design of his fianceé’s ring, the actual proposal didn’t go according to plan. Wendt wanted to propose to Loch when they were recently in Mexico for former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay’s wedding to Bryan Abasolo. Unfortunately, Loch came down with food poisoning after the wedding, putting the engagement on halt. But once they returned home, the moment ended up being better than Wendt could have planned.
“We’re not vacation people, we’re very much homebodies,” Wendt explained. “Two hours after we were engaged, we were watching Big Brother, eating ice cream sandwiches. That’s our favorite kind of night.”
The proposal comes just a year after the duo met in Paradise. Despite leaving the series apart, they quickly reconnected in the real world and rekindled their romance.
This summer has been a celebration of love for many Bachelor in Paradise stars. Fellow Season 5 couple Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone married on June 16, while Season 2 duo Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon wed on August 11.
