Kevin Kisner wears Bama jersey to pay off Justin Thomas bet

One of the hallmarks of the current wave of young Americans taking over the PGA Tour is the fact that most of them hailed from strong college golf programs, meaning they have strong college ties. For instance, Jordan Spieth’s got Texas, Smylie Kaufman’s got LSU, and Brandt Snedeker’s got Vanderbilt. In that vein, two friends and rivals on opposite sides of the college football national championship laid a little wager on Monday’s contest between Alabama and Georgia.

You know what happened next: Justin Thomas’s Alabama knocked off Kevin Kisner’s Georgia in a thrilling, chasedown victory. And Kisner, who’s enough of a Georgia fan that he chartered a helicopter to fly from East Lake to a football game earlier in the season, had to don an Alabama jersey during the first round of this weekend’s Sony Open in Hawaii. He did so on the 17th hole, which he promptly bogeyed … but at least they were in Hawaii, and it all went to a good cause:

Good things can come from pain for Georgia fans … who have more than enough pain to spare these days.
