Kevin Jonas's "Gonna Tell My Kids" Meme Is About the Jonas Brothers and Blink 182
Kevin Jonas is officially the latest person to join in on the "Gonna tell my kids" meme, and I'm gonna tell my kids he absolutely nailed it.
On Nov. 21, the Jonas Brother shared a throwback photo from the JoBros' original late 2000s boy band reign. In the pic, the boys are peak Jonas: Nick has a curly mop and skinny tie, Kevin has a large handkerchief-style scarf, and Joe is wearing a tie outside of his button-up — plus, they're all holding video game guitars. Kevin then captioned the photo, "Gonna tell my kids this was Blink-182."
Kevin isn't the only one to get in on the meme. Over the past week, the internet has gone wild with the meme, which typically pairs a contemporary pop culture reference with an incorrect historical caption. One favorite was a picture of Lana Del Rey and ASAP Rocky from the "National Anthem" music video, captioned, "Gonna tell my kids this was jfk and Jacqueline Kennedy." Another, from writer Aamina Khan, used a photo of BTS speaking at the United Nations with the caption, "gonna tell my kids this is the united states supreme court."
Honestly, Kevin might have meant his take on the meme literally considering he has two daughters, Alena and Valentina, at home. The only thing that would have made this moment better would be if Kevin somehow tied in Joe's ongoing pseudo-beef with My Chemical Romance, but hey, we'll take what we can get.
Here's hoping Nick and Joe Jonas chime in with their own meme, though knowing Nick's meme illiteracy, Kevin and Joe will have to explain how to do it first.
