Kevin Hart with wife Eniko Hart

Kevin Hart and his wife, Eniko Hart, have been through plenty of ups and downs throughout their relationship, but they’re currently going strong—and he’s repeatedly described her as the “backbone” of his life.

After meeting in 2009, the couple quietly dated for two years before going public with their romance once Kevin finalized his divorce from first wife Torrei Hart. Kevin and Eniko tied the knot in 2016, two years after he proposed on her birthday, but their marriage was tested early on when Kevin was caught in a cheating scandal.

Kevin later said that weathering the storm wasn’t easy, but Eniko decided to stay with him—and held him “accountable” for his actions. “She came to an amazing conclusion of, 'I like the fact that we have a family, that we have a household, and I like the fact that we now got a job to do to get better,'" he recalled during a 2020 episode of the School of Greatness podcast. “It was her understanding that we don't let the outside world affect our inside, and I credit her for setting that tone.”

It was nonstop.”

At the time, Kevin was still married to his first wife, Torrei, but he made it clear in the same series that there was no overlap between the two relationships. “The biggest misconception is that Eniko was the homewrecker,” he explained. “This woman came in and destroyed this man’s family. Reality is, I was done with my first marriage. We were done. In separate homes.”

One year into the marriage, Kevin claimed in an Instagram video that an unnamed person was trying to extort him with a sexually suggestive video. Kevin publicly apologized to Eniko, who was then pregnant with the couple’s son Kenzo. Eniko said in Kevin’s Netflix series that she felt “publicly humiliated” by the scandal but ultimately decided to stick with her husband.

“I have to maintain a level head, I think that's the only thing that really got me through,” Eniko recalled. “I wasn't ready at the time to just give up on my family. I wanted Kenzo to be able to know his dad and grow up, so it was a lot. It was a lot for me, but we've been through it, we've gone through it, we passed it and he's a better man now because of it.”

Kevin, meanwhile, said in 2018 that the incident was “the most difficult test ever” for his and Eniko’s marriage. “I applaud my wife for just displaying a high level of strength that I can't even explain,” he told People. “I applaud her for being my backbone, my support system, and more importantly, taking my life to the next level.”
