The first run of retro releases for Kevin Durant’s line of Nike signature sneakers will continue with one of the most anticipated drops yet.

Returning for the first time ever, the KD 4 “Galaxy” will release just after the NBA All-Star Game in February — fitting for a shoe that made its debut at the 2012 All-Star Game along with a wider collection of “Galaxy” sneakers including the Kobe 7, LeBron 9, and of course, the Air Foamposite One.

Staying true to the original, the KD 4 Retro features a metallic silver upper with orange accents. Sitting atop a glow-in-the-dark outsole is black midsole with white speckling taking after outer space. NASA’s mission patches inspire the tongue badge, while the sockliner, insole, and midsole shank take on a more colorful nebula motif. The grey strap is also reflective when hit with light, helping to give the sneaker several different looks in different settings, and features a “Pull off for Lockdown” graphic as another space-faring nod.

When asked a few years ago on Twitter/X, Kevin Durant named the KD 2, KD 4, KD 6, KD 8, and KD 12 as his favorite models from his signature line. Last year, he also said of the “Weatherman” colorway for the KD 4: “These really the ones right here. The Galaxy a close second.”

The KD 4 is noteworthy for it bringing back the strap that had been embraced on his second sneaker and ditched for the third. A Hyperfuse upper replaced the leather that had been used previously, while the sole features Phylon foam and a forefoot Zoom Air unit.

Nike created the “Galaxy” collection for the 2012 All-Star Game in Orlando as a nod to the nearby Kennedy Space Center. The Air Foamposite was not only the most hyped of the lot but also one of the most in the history of sneaker collecting, as police had to be called to help handle the New York City release, and a riot broke out in a Florida mall.

Official images have been revealed for the first time by @brandon1an, a reputed sneaker leaker on social media.

The Nike KD 4 “Galaxy” will release Feb. 15, the day after the NBA All-Star Game, through the SNKRS app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $130.
