Kevin Costner’s Son Makes His Acting Debut in the New 'Horizon' Movie
We don't play around when it comes to America's favorite cowboy (ahem, Kevin Costner), so anytime there's new info on Horizon: An American Saga, you can bet we're going to stop whatever it is we're doing to listen.
When the trailer for the actor's passion project dropped, we were ecstatic! Especially because Kevin's son, Hayes Logan Costner, made a striking appearance in the captivating movie preview!
Hayes joins a long list of celebrities that make up the talented cast. Now, there was a lot that happened in the trailer, so if you need help remembering just who Hayes was, read on.
Hayes appears in the trailer around the 1-minute mark, after what seems to be an attack on his family's home. You can see him escorting his mother (Sienna Miller) to a safety cellar inside their house. He then closes the top of the bunk, not entering inside, after saying these words: "It's all right. I'm gonna be with dad."
Okay, well we haven't seen the full movie yet, but we already have tears!
Kevin spoke to PEOPLE in November 2022 about the movie that he's directing, producing and acting in, and went on to say that his son is "very good" in the film.
"Hayes plays the namesake character that I actually play in the movie. He's 13 years old and the screenplay's been around longer than that," Kevin said.
When talking about the casting process and why he chose Hayes for the role, Costner had a few choice words.
"I kind of did it on purpose, so he could be hanging out with me," he told PEOPLE.
Well, we love to hear it. Especially since this appears to be the 15-year-old's acting debut! Plus, being able to spend time with your dad at his job is already cool to any kid. But getting to spend time with your dad at his job on a movie set must be one of the most surreal experiences!
Chapter 1 of Horizon: An American Saga premieres in theaters on June 28 this year. Chapter 2 premiers shortly after on August 16.
