Kevin Costner Reveals The Great Length He Goes To In Order To Hang Out With His Teenager
As a parent, getting your teen to willingly hang out with you is no easy task. There will likely be moans and groans and the dragging of feet. But Kevin Costner was prepared to do whatever he could to make sure his son Hayes spent time with him.
Including paying him.

“When it’s your movie you get to pick who you hang out with 👍🏻,” Costner captioned the trailer he shared. “Really proud of my son, Hayes, for making his acting debut in.”
Costner shared a similar message with People in 2022: “He’s very good,” Costner said. “… I kind of did it on purpose, so he could be hanging out with me.”
Aww! It makes the nepo baby-ness of it all a little sweeter when you know Costner was just desperate to get some quality time with his 15-year-old.
“Hayes has the best intro into your world with his father,” one follower said. “Congratulations to both of you.”
“How lovely to see your son Hayes acting in your movie. Just like you I’m sure he will make a mark in future,” another commented.

Costner is a proud dad of seven and told People in Nov. 2022 that being a father is one of his greatest joys — even if it comes at a price.
“You’ve got to get down on the ground and play with them,” he said. “And you teach them to be independent — and the sad part about that is they become that.”
Costner shares kids Annie, 39, Lily 37, and Joe, 36 with ex-wife Cindy Silva. He shares son Liam, 26 with ex Bridget Rooney. And he shares kids Grace, 13, Cayden, 16, and Hayes with ex-wife Christine Baumgartner.
Hayes isn’t the only one of his children Costner has worked with. In fact, it’s a bit of a trend. He has acted alongside his three oldest kids, and there’s plenty of time for more Costner kids to get their own credits.
Baumgartner and Costner finalized their nearly-yearlong divorce last month after 18 years of marriage. The tumultuous proceedings included outlandish custody proceedings wherein Baumgartner requested almost a quarter of a million dollars per month in child support for Cayden, Hayes, and Grace.
She alleged that was ” less than the amount needed to maintain the children in their accustomed lifestyle,” but a judge ruled that Costner pay $63 thousand instead. And, of course, the check Hayes is hopefully bringing home for his work on the silver screen.
