They're delightfully wholesome.

With nearly six career-decades under his belt, Kevin Bacon is adding a new title to his resume: TikTok’s “Himbo of the Week.”

The title was awarded this past week by Don’t Let This Flop co-hosts EJ Dickson and Liz Garber-Paul in honor of the actor’s position as (one of) the “least insufferable” star(s) on the app, as well as “arguably one of the all-time greatest himbos on the platform.”

It’s rare to find Bacon jumping onto a TikTok trend. Instead, you’ll catch him spilling the secrets of his beauty routines, making dad jokes over the stove or regularly singing songs to the goats that live on his farm—often joined by his musician daughter, Sosie. Dickson describes the sweet sneak peeks into his life and work as “wholesome content,” which becomes even more so when you look at how unproblematic Bacon is.

“He has never been canceled for saying something offensive about BLM or reproductive rights or Beyoncé, and he has been in a stable relationship with actor Kyra Sedgwick for the past 34 years, an anomaly in Hollywood,” Dickson wrote. “In his videos, he regularly dons tight T-shirts and sexy Stanley Tucci glasses and he is a gift to us all.”

For this, the pair “bestow[ed] the coveted title of Himbo of the Week, a segment devoted to the head-emptiest hotties on social media.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the term, it does have a controversial past. According to Mashable, the word is a combination of “him” and “bimbo,” the latter of which was originally used to describe “simple” men in the early 1900s and later adapted as an attack on conventionally attractive women for enjoying things that others perceived to be superficial or frivolous.

Recognizable characters that have earned the title of himbo include Kronk from The Emperor’s New Groove, Emmett from Twilight, and Kevin from Ghostbusters (2016), with Mashable describing the phrase as a golden retriever in human form: “beautiful, incredibly well-intentioned, and dumb,” and that type of character has quite the fanbase.

Some believe the term to be ableist, calling the love for those characterizations predatory and questioning why others desire someone who appears to hold less power, but the love for himbos stems from their genuinely kind hearts and endless optimism, rather than their supposed level of intelligence.

So while “‘Himbo’ of the Week” may not be the most accurate (or polite) designation for Bacon by dictionary definition, he definitely exudes the vibe that makes others fall in love with himbos—his sweet posts and genuine delight are infectious, and for that, Himbo of the Week feels like the perfect fit.
