Kesha Put Her Own Spin on the White Rose Movement at the 2018 Grammys

Kesha has never been one to follow the pack. And at the 2018 Grammys, her interpretation of the white rose movement in support of Time’s Up reflected that. Most participants—including like Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, and the Chainsmokers—pinned an actual white rose to their lapels or gowns; others, like Cardi B, carried one on the red carpet. Kesha instead opted to incorporate the symbol into her outfit, stitching the follower onto her jacket.

The “Praying” singer, who's nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance at Sunday night’s ceremony, wore a navy blazer and matching trousers from Nudie's Rodeo Tailors to the red carpet, with a cream-colored silk blouse and a rhinestone-dotted collar. The suit was decorated with Western-inspired white stitching along the front of the jacket, its sleeves, and pant legs, plus two embroidered white roses on either lapel.

She completed the look with bedazzled silver cowboy boots, a handful (literally) of sparkly rings, dewy makeup, and her long blond hair in loose, mermaid-y waves.

Ahead of the 2018 Grammys, dozens of musicians, led by the newly-formed Voices in Entertainment organization, pledged to wear white roses in a show of solidarity with the Time’s Up movement and its work to prevent sexual harassment and assault in the workplace. “We choose the white rose because historically it stands for hope, peace, sympathy, and resistance,” the group wrote in a letter, the Los Angeles Times reported. “Please join us in support of equal representation in the workplace, for leadership that reflects the diversity of our society, workplaces free of sexual harassment and a heightened awareness of accountability that our sisters started on January 1st and continued through the Golden Globes and onward.”

On top of this subtle tribute on the red carpet, Kesha is expected to address #MeToo onstage when she performs "Praying" during the ceremony.
