Kesha and Dr. Luke Announce 'Resolution' Following Heated Lawsuit

The lawsuit between Kesha and Dr. Luke is finally over.
In a statement posted to the pop star's official Instagram page on Thursday, June 22, the "Praying" singer, 36, shared that she and the music producer, real name Lukasz Gottwald, 49, had agreed to resolve the case.
"Kesha and Dr. Luke have agreed to a resolution of the lawsuit and have agreed to issue and post a joint statement regarding that resolution," the message began before it continued, sharing the official statements from each party involved in the suit.
"Only god knows what happened that night. As I have always said, I cannot recount everything that happened. I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one," Kesha stated. "I wish nothing but peace to all parties involved."
"While I appreciate Kesha again acknowledging that she cannot recount that night in 2005, I am absolutely certain nothing happened," Dr. Luke's statement began, "I never drugged or assaulted her and would never do that to anyone."
"For the sake of my family, I have vigorously fought to clear my name for nearly 10 years. It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life," he concluded, "I wish Kesha well."
The lawsuit began nearly a decade ago after Kesha came forward with allegations of physical, sexual and emotional abuse against the producer.
In court documents obtained by reporters in Oct. 2014, the Gag Order artist detailed an incident in 2005 where she woke up naked in Dr. Luke's bed "sore and sick with no memory of how she got there," alleging he instructed her to take what he called "sober pills" the night before.
The filing also stated that Kesha claimed Dr. Luke threatened that he would "shut her career down, take away all her publishing and recording rights, and otherwise destroy not only her life but her entire family’s lives as well," should she mention the alleged sexual assault to anyone.
After Kesha went public with the accusations and attempted to extricate herself from her contract with Sony and Dr. Luke, the producer filed a countersuit denying the "TiK ToK" artist's claims. At the time, he suggested the singer's lawsuit was part "of a campaign of publishing outrageous and untrue statements."
Two years later, in 2016, a New York State judge dismissed Kesha's claims on the grounds that they were "beyond the legal time limit," court speak for being too old. But the producer's defamation suit continued for over nine years, despite several appeals.
