Kesha revealed a life-threatening health scare she experienced from freezing her eggs.

In a SELF profile, the singer said she "almost died" in January, weeks after the procedure. She first noticed something was wrong when she felt too weak to walk after a performance in the Bahamas on New Year's Eve. When she was hospitalized, doctors found out that she had developed a complication from freezing her eggs, which they believe is tied to her weak immune system. The "Praying" artist was then taken to a hospital in Miami, where she was hospitalized for nine days.

"I finally feel recovered, but it took a couple months," she shared. "It was horrifying."

The pop star divulged that she was initially hesitant to share her experience, as she was worried that people would pick apart what it means. The Conjuring Kesha star continued, "I just was taking my reproductive health into my own hands, and I stand by everyone doing that and [honoring] your body."

"Everyone probably has some semblance of feeling like you share what you're going through, and at the same time's almost inviting people to have an opinion on it. I don't have that perfectly mapped out," noted the 36-year-old.

The artist also shared that she's currently in a relationship, which is why she's been thinking about having a child, but has chosen to keep his name and details about their relationship private. "I didn't really want to mention the relationship, because I think making a family is everyone's choice, and family can mean so many different things to everyone," she explained.

Kesha's medical complication arrived months before the release of her latest album, Gag Order, which arrived on May 19. She also made reference to her other health issues on the album, namely in "Fine Line," in which she references not being able to speak on her common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), which is a primary immunodeficiency disease that puts her at "especially high risk of developing recurrent, and potentially serious, infections."

"I just never wanted to be the whiny, privileged girl. Also, my image had been that of going out and having fun," she said about her decision to keep mum on her diagnosis details until now.
