As a result, his final four seasons with the Oakland Raiders, in 60 games, the NFL player had just 136 passes thrown at him which allowed for just 66 completions and two touchdowns.
In the summer of 2011, he signed a $60 million five-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, which made him the highest-paid defensive back in the league's history at the time. However, shortly after, his career slowed down and he was cut after only two years with the team. He then played just three games in the 2012 to 2013 season for the San Francisco 49ers before being released from that team in November 2013. This fizzling of his once-sizzling NFL career led to Asomugha’s decision to retire at the end of 2013 after an 11-season run.
