Just like on Prince Louis's birthday last month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released an extra photo of Princess Charlotte on her actual birthday.

The new picture shows the now 5-year-old royal gingerly holding a bag of dried pasta. Per Kensington Palace, which shared the new picture on Twitter, the Duchess took the photograph of her only daughter in April "on the Sandringham Estate, where the family helped to pack up and deliver food packages for isolated pensioners in the local area."

The image was accompanied on Twitter with a message from Will and Kate, which reads: "Thank you for all your lovely messages on Princess Charlotte’s fifth birthday!"

The portrait shows the young royal in a checked Zara dress with her hair pulled back in a half ponytail, and is one in a series of pictures taken while she was volunteering. See the other shots, which were made public yesterday, below.

It's become something of a tradition for Kate to take a series of photos of each of her children to be released on their birthdays. As the Cambridges are (understandably) concerned about the privacy of their kids, this allows them to at least somewhat control the narrative.

For Louis's birthday just a few weeks ago on April 23, Kate photographed her youngest child making a rainbow-themed hand print art project. See those shots here:

And it's likely we'll see new photos of Prince George ahead of his seventh birthday on July 23.
