Kensington Palace Says Kate Middleton and the Royal Kids Didn’t Get COVID-19 in April
Kensington Palace reportedly confirmed that Prince William tested positive for COVID-19 in April.
The palace also reportedly confirmed that Kate Middleton and the royal kids did not get the virus.
News of Prince William secretly testing positive for COVID-19 in April broke overnight, with Kensington Palace initially refusing to confirm reports from BBC and The Sun. But according to multiple royal correspondents on Twitter, including the Daily Mail’s Rebecca English and The Express’s Richard Palmer, Kensington Palace has belatedly confirmed Prince William’s diagnosis—and confirmed that Kate Middleton and the royal children (George, Charlotte, and Louis) did not get the virus.
Both reporters also implied there could be backlash over why the diagnosis was kept a secret, considering William is second in line to the British throne.
KP have belatedly confirmed that Prince William did have coronavirus in April - Kate and the children did not. Valid questions as to why this was kept secret, although KP say he didn’t want to alarm people after his father’s diagnosis. Original story by @clemmiemoodie https://t.co/7GZrCR4bNF

I’m on holiday but it seems Kensington Palace is confirming that the Duke of Cambridge had Covid-19 in April and kept it secret. The UK expects honesty from public figures, particularly during a pandemic. This may be a cover-up that will haunt William and those advising him.

According to The Sun’s original report, William told an insider “there were important things going on and I didn’t want to worry anyone.” That said, he was “hit pretty hard by the virus” and “at one stage, he was struggling to breathe, so obviously, everyone around him was pretty panicked.”
As a reminder, William’s father, Prince Charles, also tested positive for COVID-19, which was made public. He appears to have come down with the virus around the same time as William.
